Benefits and Applications

0.15 % platinum; 0.03 % Rhodium, on alumina (K-0163) is a platinum catalyst supported on a high surface area alumina support. The catalyst is used to purify inert gases (N₂, CO₂), especially in the thermal treatment of polymers (PET, nylon) in the Solid State Polycondensation Process (SSP). Moreover, the catalyst is used to remove organic substances and VOC reduction in process and exhaust gases. It is also used for removing O2 from N₂ flows and for cleaning CO₂. The platinum catalyst can be purchased in various Pt concentrations from 0.1 to 0.5% by weight. After use the catalyst can be returned to Heraeus for recycling the valuable precious metals it contains.
