Benefits and Applications

0.11 % platinum, 0.04 %; palladium on alumina (K-0174) is a bimetallic catalyst with a high surface area alumina spheres. The catalyst is used to purify inert gases (N₂, CO₂), especially in the thermal treatment of polymers (PET, nylon) in the Solid State Polycondensation Process (SSP). Moreover, the catalyst is used to remove organic substances and VOC reduction in process and exhaust gases. It is also used for removing O2 from N₂ flows and for cleaning CO₂. The catalyst catalyst can be purchased with various loadings. After use, the spent catalyst can be returned to Heraeus for recycling of the valuable precious metals.
