Benefits and Applications

0.15 % palladium; 0.15 % platinum on aluminum oxide (K-02131) is a platinum catalyst on an aluminum oxide sphere with a high surface area. The catalyst is used to purify inert gases (N₂, CO₂), especially in the thermal treatment of polymers (PET, nylon) in the Solid State Polycondensation Process (SSP). Moreover, the catalyst is used in the removal of organic substances and VOC reduction in process and exhaust gases, in the O₂ removal from N₂ streams and in CO₂ cleaning. The platinum catalyst can be purchased in various Pt concentrations from 0.1 to 0.5% by weight. After use, the spent catalyst can be returned to Heraeus for recycling of the valuable precious metals.
